Colosseum

This was so much bigger than I thought and near it were triumpahnt arches and ruins of temples...

One archway was built to celebrate the destruction of Jersualem in 70 AD.  The prisoners then helped to build the Colosseum.  Here thousands of animals and people were killed.  They even had elevators to bring up the animals and gladitators.

Just thinking of all those deaths and the sheer size of the Colosseum- with thousands watching the deaths!  There is a cross erected in the 17th century in remembrance of all those Christians killed.
Look what we found in the places we stop for morning tea and lunch- Auto Grill- along with seven other coaches also.  Big chains of these wayside stops across this part of Italy incorporating restaurant and mini supermarket...
